VIA RAIL TRAIN TRIPS TO MONTRÉAL

Vacation packages to Montréal take you to a truly unique city, famous for its romantic, old-world atmosphere.  Renowned for its cuisine, culture, festivals, and nightlife, Montréal is steeped in history, but dazzlingly alive with modern energy.  Next to Paris, Montréal is actually the largest French-speaking city in the western world and the capitol of French-speaking culture in North America.

A key destination for Canadian train travel, tours are available year-round that include a Montréal vacation package.  Whether part of a Québec train trip that includes the rustic Gaspé countryside and historic Québec City, or a featured stop on an Eastern Canada rail tour of Ontario, Québec, and the Maritimes, the luxury of traveling by train truly complements the laid-back romance of Montréal.

Rich in History and Québécoise Culture

Montréal's long history is articulated in its grand architecture, including stunning 17th century buildings, spectacular churches, and the picturesque park of Mount Royal (the source of the city's namesake).  At the top of the mountain is an impressive 31.4 metre  (103 foot) illuminated cross, erected in 1924 by the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Juxtaposed against the rich culture and countless museums is Montréal's vibrant scene of bars and nightclubs: since the prohibition era, the city has been a popular destination for revelers, and the people of Montréal certainly know how to celebrate.  Famous Crescent Street is at the center of Montréal's nightlife, bordering the Concordia University campus, and features numerous street fairs and festivals during the summertime.

The colorful city becomes even more so during the festival season.  The world-famous Montréal International Jazz Festival features a week or so of performances that range from relative unknowns to jazz prodigies, hosted in all manner of small clubs and restaurants, outdoor venues, and full concert halls.  Other events include Montréal Francofolies, a celebration of French-speaking artists, and the popular Just for Laughs comedy festival, featuring some of the greatest comedians (both English and French speaking) from all over the world.
